The moral code for the Boy Scouts of America is the Scout Oath. Your oath is your word and you live up to your word – that is the vey essence of Character.
The Boy Scouts of America are founded on the Scout Oath and Scout Laws. They are what businesses call “guiding principles” for behavior and success in an organization.
One of the consistent things I have heard from parents over the years is “My son is involved in sports and does not have time for Scouting.” The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. And while sports often teach youth leadership through position play and team efforts, ethical and moral decision making is nothing to sneeze at.
